Cola Spareribs

Okay, I went hog wild for the Super Bowl party and made all kinds of food. Albertson's had a coupon for buy one get two pore spareribs so I went that rout. I made some slowcooker BBQ ribs complements of foodnetwork. They were fine, but the favorite by far was still our old stand by that I learned in college. Everyone there wanted instruction so I'll share it here:

  • 1/2 side of pork spareribs (have the butcher cut them across the bones into 3-4 strips) or sometimes you can find the riblets already cut then just use two strips and cut them apart
  • 2 T soysauce
  • 1 T cooking wine
  • a pinch of baking soday
  • 1 can of non-diet cola

Combine the first four items and let it sit in the fridge for an hour. Brown the riblets on all sides and add the can of cola. Cover and cook at medium heat for about an hour until all the cola has been absorbed and it's just grease left in the pan. Stir a bit towards the end of the process. Serve!

Egg Tart

I promised a friend that I'd get this recipe to her, so here goes:

  • 1/2 recipe of cream cheese pastry
  • 1/2 c water
  • 2/5 c evaporated milk (80g)
  • 1/3 c sugar (60g)
  • 2 eggs

divide the dough into 12 tartlet pans. Either press into place or roll out and then place them in the pan. Combine the rest of the ingredients sieve the mixture. Pour into prepared pans and bake at 400F for 20-25 minutes.
